Katrina is a leading construction and dispute resolution lawyer with over 13 years’ experience.

She has worked on some of New Zealand's largest construction and infrastructure projects. Most recently, she has been working in-house at Fletcher Building managing the legal issues facing its Building & Interiors business, which has put her at the cutting edge of the challenges currently facing the construction industry.

Katrina’s experience has given her valuable insight into what makes a project successful. She can assist to resolve any issues that arise during the course of a project.

Katrina enjoys building strong relationships with her clients and her experience makes her approach highly commercial and pragmatic. She brings a thoughtful and creative approach to solving problems. 

Katrina also has significant experience in other commercial litigation, insurance and public law.

Katrina has advised: 

  • Insurers, contractors, building owners and consultants on numerous claims for breach of contract, defective building works and negligent advice.  
  • A Tier 1 contractor on negotiating a wide range of construction contracts, including for mega projects.
  • A Tier 1 contractor on complex claims and cost recovery strategies, including the specific issues that arise when projects are nearing completion.
  • The Problem Gambling Foundation on its application for judicial review against a procurement decision taken by the Ministry of Health.
  • The New Zealand Motor Caravan Association on its application for judicial review of the Thames Coromandel District Council’s freedom camping bylaws.
