Ian Haynes is a lawyer. He combines depth with breadth of experience and currently specialises in commercial property. He is valued by clients for his expertise in professional standards in the legal profession.

Ian also has a specialisation in commercial  property and advises owners of commercial buildings on their leasing arrangements.

Ian has been deeply involved in developing property law in New Zealand. He prepared submissions on behalf of the New Zealand Law Society on a number of property bills, including the Property Law Bill and the Land Transfer Bill. He is often  asked to give expert evidence in property law cases.

Ian is a former president of the New Zealand Law Society and helped develop the model for the governance of the legal profession on which the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act is based. He has served on a number of national and international legal organisations and in 2000 he was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the legal profession.

Ian is a former table tennis player and a lifetime member of the Auckland Table Tennis Association who now prefers to play golf.

  • On submissions to Parliamentary Select Committees, Commissions and other entities. He has had frequent dealings with Government officials and Ministers and is an experienced lobbyist.
  • On major construction and commercial property matters, providing advice and legal services on acquisitions and development work for numerous clients.
