salt™ Public
Sector Contracting, Procurement

Purchasing goods and services in the government sector can be vastly different from purchasing in the private sector.

Course Content

While the usual legal principles of contracting apply, special rules also apply to public entities when procuring goods and services.  Particular, and often complex, rules apply not just to contracting but also to the entire selection and tender process that is undertaken prior to entering into a contract.

To ensure that legal and political risks to your organisation are minimised, it is essential that staff in public entities understand both the general and specific rules that apply to them. Procurement is becoming increasingly complex and the implications of getting it wrong are often significant.

Your staff  need to understand what is required of government departments and other public entities, the threshold amounts at which specific restrictions come into play and the exceptions or exclusions that may apply.

This course offers a clear and accessible explanation of procurement. It gives your staff the information they need to know when further advice is needed and how to avoid common pitfalls in procurement. The reporting functions mean that management can have comfort that staff are aware of their requirements and have the tools they need to ensure your organisation complies with its obligations.
