Construction Contracts

The Construction Contracts Act 2002 came into effect on 1 April 2003. The purpose of the Act is to reform the law relating to construction contracts.

 

Course Content

In particular the Act aims to:

 

*  To facilitate regular and timely payments between the parties

*  To provide for the speedy resolution of disputes

*  To provide remedies for the recovery of payments

 

The Act applies to every construction contract which relates to the carrying out of construction work in New Zealand (whether or not the contract is governed by New Zealand law) which is either entered into on or after 1 April 2003 or is renewed for a further term on or after 1 April 2003.
