contracts and negotiations. He is a Senior Consultant in Kensington
Swan’s Abu Dhabi Branch and is part of a United Arab Emirates-based
team of energy, outsourcing, government, construction, commercial,
and investment experts.

Richard is an expert in construction law and has
considerable experience in representing owners and contractors on
project facilitation, negotiation and documentation.

Richard has presented seminars and written

and contractors’ liability for design. He has a special
interest in private sector involvement in infrastructure projects.
Richard also has a broad background in corporate matters, including
structuring of business vehicles, joint ventures, capital raising and
acquisitions. He has a longstanding involvement in public law,
having acted for New Zealand Railways Corporation on the
privatisation of rail and subsequent land management activities.
As legal advisor to the Wellington Tenths Trust
and the Palmerston North Reserve Trust,
Richard also has experience in Māori
land law and development and Maori corporate governance.
He has a long involvement in the arts and arts advocacy. Amongst many
appointments, he was the founding chair of the Arts Foundation of New
Zealand. He was awarded the honour of a Member of the New Zealand
Order of Merit for his services to the arts industry.
