David is a leader in the law impacting on financial
service providers, helping to shape the regulatory framework in which
his clients operate.
Key
leadership roles David has played in the financial services and
trusts industry include:
Member of the Code Committee appointed under
the Financial Advisers Act 2008 to develop a code of professional
conduct for authorised financial advisers;
Chair of Workplace Savings NZ, the peak
industry body dedicated to the promotion of workplace savings and
KiwiSaver (2008-present, councillor since 2006);
Lead legal provider to the New Zealand
Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) in relation to the impact
of financial services and trust law on the accounting profession,
leading NZICA’s 2009 national roadshow on financial adviser
reforms;
Leading the Workplace Savings NZ
superannuation scheme trusteeship training programme (2002-present).
David is a regular conference presenter and workshop facilitator on issues
affecting the financial services industry and the practice of trusts.
His
recognised expertise extends to:
Superannuation, KiwiSaver and workplace
savings arrangements;
Collective investment arrangements,
securities offerings and portfolio investment services;
Financial adviser obligations and financial
product distribution arrangements;
