Helen is an associate in Kensington Swan’s Government Relations team and Construction team which are part of the Advocacy Business Unit in our Wellington office.

 

Helen provides advice to organisations in respect of a wide range of issues involving dispute resolution, administrative law, leaky home disputes, medico-legal and health law, and regulatory environments.

 

Her recent work has included:          

 

*   advice to a number of statutory bodies on legislative and regulatory change

* involvement in judicial review proceedings

* the prosecution of professional disciplinary matters for health statutory bodies

* advice to a range of clients on regulatory compliance in the public sector

*  reviewing procurement procedures and tender documents

* reviewing and providing advice to the Office of the Auditor General on the Good Practice Guidelines on Procurement in the Public Sector

* advising clients on the range of procurement requirements in the public sector, including Mandatory Rules for Procurement by Departments, mediation and dispute resolution.

 

Helen has also experience in giving advice on training on the management of requests under the Official Information Act and Privacy Act, drafting and reviewing construction contracts, terms and conditions and consultancy agreements, advising on leaky building and defective workmanship claims, variation claims, liquidated damages and payment disputes and providing advice to a reinsurer in respect of a complex disability claim dispute and in relation to privacy and Official Information issues.

 

In 2006, Helen was also seconded to the legal team of a major government department where she was heavily involved in advising on procurement, reviewing and advising on contracts and tender documents.
