Dean joined Kensington Swan in 2005,
and worked in the Litigation, Commercial Advisory and Energy teams
before joining the Construction team of the Advocacy unit in 2006. He
was also seconded to the legal team of a major government department
in 2006 where he reviewed and advised on contracts and tender
documents.
Dean’s experience includes:
drafting and reviewing construction contracts, terms and conditions
and consultancy agreements; familiarity with New
Zealand
and international standard form construction contracts including
NZS3910 and the NEC3 suite of contracts; reviewing procurement
procedures and tender documents.
He also has experience in drafting
commercial agreements including constitutions, shareholder agreements
and joint venture agreements; advising on leaky building and
defective workmanship claims, variation claims, liquidated damages
and payment disputes; construction and commercial dispute resolution
including assisting with mediation, adjudication, arbitration and
litigation.
Dean has advised a wide variety of
organisations including principals, contractors, sub-contractors,
consultants, property owners and small businesses.
