John heads the national property team at Kensington Swan. He has over
35 years experience in property and leasing work, and is able to advise
on all aspects of commercial and property law.
John specialises in:

He also provides advice on
documentation associated with the development and operation of hotel
properties, as well as practicing in the areas of family
trusts. He is a trustee of a large number of trusts.
John is the firm’s expert in the
law and practice of commercial and green building leasing, and acts
for a wide range of property owners, investors and managers.

leasing work for the Ministry of Social Development and other
government departments.
All legal work associated with a major Wellington
project involving the provision of new and refurbished office space
to a Government department with an emphasis on sustainability and a
requirement to obtain an NZGBC 5 Star design rating.
Property acquisitions and disposals for Ministry of
Justice.
Infrastructure agreements for New Zealand Railways
Corporation.
Advising Hilton International in relation to the
development of the hotel at Princes Wharf in Auckland and in relation to its Wellington
project.
All
property work relating to the Wellington Regional Stadium.
Advising Department of Courts and NZ Police on leasing
issues relating to the Ngai Tahu settlement.
John also provides specialist advice
on legislative changes affecting the property sector and gives
regular seminars on property leasing and green building issues.
